On April 30th QCOL began phase I of our conversion to total digital TV. New equipment has been installed and we are currently completing installation and testing. In order to make the conversion possible, the channel line-up has changed. Additional digital channels will be offered and analog offerings will be scaled back to accomidate the conversion. Customers who prviously subscribed to the QCOL Analog Basic plan are encouraged to upgrade to the new Digital Plus plan. The Digital Plus plan includes all programming previously part of the Analog Basic plan, plus all programming that was previously part of the Digital Basic plan PLUS additional new channels. Digital Plus also offers availability of optional premium channels, pay per view programming and digital music. The new QCOL Digital Plus service requires a digital box installed at each TV. TV’s without a digital box will still be able to receive the QCOL Lifeline Analog service. The QCOL Lifeline Service is lower cost service which offers local braodcasts, local advertising, governemnt, shopping, religious, non-profit, PBS, weather and other channels as permitted by the FCC. The QCOL Lifeline Service currently includes 25 analog channels plus 12 digital channels, plus 9 digital high definition channels and 40 digital music channels. QCOL customers who have not requested to be upgraded to QCOL Digital Plus have been downgraded to QCOL Lifeline service effective May 1, 2008.

The FCC has mandated several new regulations that will change the way most people watch TV. In February 2009 all analog stations must switch to a digital format. In an attempt to keep ahead of that date, QCOL will be making major changes over the next several months to the TV services. Many of the changes and new features will require a digital set-top box.
Current basic only customers (if you do not currently have a digital box) should watch your mail for a special offer in which you can test drive the digital experience NOW FREE for 3 months (see the flyer for complete details or call 877-329-1121).

QCOL is in the process of upgrading a portion of the fiber trunk line used to connect portions of the QCOL network. The upgraded fiber is currently being installed and prepped for service. The upgrade process will require disconnecting the current working fiber and moving services to the newly installed fiber. This move will cause a service outage of interent and TV services during the move. The move is being scheduled during the maintenance window of 11:00pm and 7:00am. Total service outage time should be less than 2 hours but could occur anytime within the maintenance window period.  The move is currently scheduled to occur between 11pm Thursday January 17th and 7:00am Friday January 18th 2007. We will post any scheduling changes to this page if they become necessary.
